Clinical Assistant Professor
Welcome! I'm Dr. Keri Lydon, a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Science at the University of Georgia. My research sits at the intersection of microbiology, genomics, and public health—asking how bacterial pathogens, especially Vibrio species, thrive in coastal and aquatic environments and what that means for human health.
My work uses bioinformatics and computational approaches to tackle questions across four areas: understanding what makes some bacterial strains cause severe disease, improving pathogen detection in shellfish aquaculture, tracking how pathogens move through freshwater and marine systems, and examining how environmental contaminants shape microbial communities and resistance. While my primary appointment is in teaching, I'm actively building a research program and welcome collaborations that bridge environmental science and public health.
This site is a home for that work as it grows. Please explore to learn more about my research interests, teaching, and opportunities to collaborate.
