Projects

Environmental Drivers of Virulence

Using genomics to understand why some Vibrio strains cause severe disease while others don't, with the goal of identifying biomarkers that predict clinical outcomes.

Waterborne Pathogen Ecology

Exploring how pathogens persist and respond to environmental change across freshwater and coastal marine systems, from streams to estuaries.

Seafood Safety and Aquaculture

Developing rapid molecular tools for Vibrio detection in oyster aquaculture and evaluating post-harvest controls to reduce pathogen levels in shellfish.

Contaminants and Antimicrobial Resistance

Investigating how pollutants like triclosan, pharmaceuticals, and plastics reshape microbial communities and drive antimicrobial resistance in coastal waters.
